What are Microhaematocrit Tubes?
Also called Microhematocrit Tubes, taken from the Merriam Webster Dictionary definition, the word “Microhematocrit” means:
“A procedure for determining the ratio of the volume of packed red blood cells to the volume of whole blood by centrifuging a minute quantity of blood in a capillary tube coated with heparin.”
The tubes are simply the devices used in the above procedure.
Qualities of the ISS range
A range of microhematocrit tubes, with the following special qualities:
- Available in plain or heparinised (>31.U.) versions for direct sampling
- Taper is less than 0.02mm
- These tubes comply fully with ISO 12772:1997 – Laboratory glassware — Disposable microhaematocrit capillary tubes and are also CE certified
- Volumes of either:
- Supplied in colour coded dispenser tubes (blue or red) for safe hygienic withdrawal and
